8 Bollywood Divas Who Are In Their 40’s And Still Spinsters

In Bollywood, there was a time when a woman in her 20’s and unmarried was somewhat acceptable. As time passed the 90’s saw an extension in age where actresses planned to get hitched in their 30’s as they would’ve passed their prime. Since then times have changed as one gets to see women becoming more independent, secured and happy being unmarried though they would often come across the obvious question. Here we look at some of the Bollywood divas who are in their 40’s and still spinsters.

Anu Agarwal (1969)

The ‘Aashiqui’ girl who made a smashing debut in 1990 managed to do a few big banner films like ‘Khalnaaika’ and ‘King Uncle’ in 1993 but vanished from the scene only to appear 15 years later. Her disappearance continues to be a mystery to many of her fans.

Tabu (1970)

The award winning versatile Tabu made her screen debut as a child artist in Dev Anand’s ‘Hum Naujawan’ in 1986 and her adult debut in ‘Pehla Pehla Pyaar’ opposite Rishi Kapoor. She was dating producer Sajid Nadiadwala and Nagarjuna in the 90’s but both her affairs were short-lived. Though she has graduated to elderly roles she continues to be the favourite of many directors.

Urmila Matondkar (1974)

A child artiste who made her adult debut with N. Chandra’s ‘Narsimha’ in 1991. She too became an actress to reckon with in the 90’s and did movies with top directors and actors but was branded as a Ram Gopal Varma heroine who starred in almost all his flicks. She was never really into any serious relationships according to the media but it’s believed that she was close to getting married to a business man which never materialized. She continues to wait for her Mr. Right.

Nagma (1974)

Nagma made her screen debut in Salman Khan’s ‘Baaghi’ in 1990 but didn’t really make it big. But down south she was the reigning queen who delivered big hits with all the leading superstars of her time. She has done a volley of films ranging Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Bhojpuri, Malayalam, Kannada and others. Though she was associated with a lot of her co-stars but nothing emerged out of any linkups. She later forayed into business and tried her hand in politics but lost with a thin margin.

Priety Zinta (1975)

Priety Zinta made her debut in the 1998 Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Dil Se..’ before bagging some of the most lucrative banners in tinsel town. A favourite of many actors and directors, she ruled the roost in the 2000’s. She was in a serious relationship with industrialist Ness Wadia but broke up a couple of years ago. She is full time into taking care of her IPL franchisee Kings XI Punjab and film production.

Ekta Kapoor (1975)

Jeetendra’s daughter, Ekta Kapoor heads a big time production house which produces TV serials and films. She turned 40 this year and continues to produce films. She has never been linked with any of her co-stars except for a few rumours which died down, naturally. She may settle into marital bliss provided she gets the right business man.

Ameesha Patel (1975)

Ameesha started her career with the blockbuster ‘Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai’ in 2000 which made Hrithik Roshan an overnight sensation. Though she did deliver a couple of more big films like ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Humraaz’ but somehow her choice of films never really took her career to the peaks she intended.

Sushmita Sen (1975)

The former Miss India and Miss Universe has come a long way since making her Bollywood debut in 1996 with Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Dastak’. The 40 plus actress who had her share of affairs and relationships with Vikram Bhatt and Randeep Hooda didn’t culminate into marriage. She had the courage to adopt two girls and bring them up without really needing a father for them. But she has said that she will get hitched once her daughters are grown up.
